DUH Health Systems

1st IPPE (July/August 2023)

My involvement at Duke University Hospital led to an enriching two-part immersion. In the initial phase during July, I engaged in shadowing across diverse pharmacy sites, gaining valuable insights into pharmacy operations, surgical operations, medication procurement, and formulary decisions. This unique experience provided a deep understanding of how pharmacies manage medication acquisition and formulary inclusion in a clinical setting.

Transitioning into August, my focus shifted to a clinically intensive phase. This project-oriented month encompassed a range of tasks, from completing homework sets and participating in drug/disease state discussions to engaging in readings and overseeing weekly patients. The latter involved daily monitoring, patient interaction, consultations, and in-depth literature and guideline analysis to devise patient-specific plans.

Overall, the Duke University Hospital Health Systems Rotation proved to be a comprehensive dual-phase immersion that merged operational insights with hands-on clinical engagement, offering a multifaceted perspective on patient care and pharmaceutical operations.

UNC Eshelman School Of Pharmacy

8th Annual PharmD Education Symposium

My participation in the 8th Annual PharmD Educational Symposium marked a significant privilege. This engagement allowed me to collaborate extensively with the esteemed faculty, dedicated staff, committed PharmD students, and experienced preceptors of UNC Pharmacy. Together, we embarked on a journey of exploration and innovation, aiming to enhance the overall learning experience.

One pivotal aspect of this symposium was the opportunity to address the audience. I had the honor of sharing my group's perspectives on the multifaceted aspects of AI – its advantages and limitations within our curriculum, its present role, and its potential integration into our future learning strategies. Our collective contributions aimed to offer a diverse spectrum of insights, real-world encounters, and valuable educational considerations regarding this transformative topic.

What sets UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy apart is its inclusive approach, involving individuals from diverse backgrounds to collaboratively shape the academic agenda. This approach resonates with the way a nourishing learning environment is fostered. My sincere appreciation goes to UNC for providing me with this invaluable platform to actively contribute and engage. I am eagerly looking forward to future collaborative endeavors!

Family Day Chair (05/23-10/23)

Collaborating with Christian Palumbo and Ms. Clapper to orchestrate the extraordinary 2023 Family Day event at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy was a distinct honor. As the driving force behind the scenes, I played a pivotal role in coordinating various aspects of this memorable occasion. From liaising with local restaurants to curate delectable catering options to meticulously organizing a dedicated team of over 60 volunteers, every detail was carefully considered to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for the 250+ students and their families who attended.

Managing a budget of $3000 for catering added an extra layer of strategic planning to the event. Balancing quality and variety within this financial scope required meticulous negotiation and collaboration with local establishments. I navigated the diverse culinary landscape to curate a selection of delectable options that not only satisfied the palate but also adhered to the financial parameters set for the event.

In addition to overseeing the catering logistics, I took charge of managing and coordinating the efforts of 10+ activity leaders. These leaders played a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience for attendees, and my responsibility involved ensuring their roles and responsibilities were well-defined and seamlessly integrated into the event structure. Coordinating this dynamic team further emphasized the importance of effective leadership and clear communication, contributing significantly to the success of Family Day.
